Our Story
Everything about PSG in all its glory
Where It All Began
Paris Saint-Germain Football Club was founded in 1970 after the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain, created to give the French capital a top-level team. Backed by local authorities and business leaders, PSG quickly gained support and won promotion to Ligue 1 by 1971. Financial and political disagreements soon split the club, with PSG retaining professional status and Paris FC keeping the Parc des Princes. PSG adopted its iconic blue, red, and white colors and rebuilt steadily. In 1982, the club won its first major trophy, the Coupe de France, marking its arrival on the national stage firmly.
